Matt has worked in the financial services industry for most of his career with a specialism in offering clients solutions in line with their personal values. He has been frustrated by the lack of tools available to provide adequate services to these clients and also the lack of clear information available in assessing the validity of an offering.
Matt’s personal objective is to enable more people to get access to this type of strategy and where possible to enhance the market by improving accessibility to quality information. His view is there will be a positive impact on society and the environment by being more considerate about investing and understanding the mechanics of change.

Pradeep has a global reputation as an innovator and entrepreneur. Co-founder of the Social Stock Exchange (SSX) and its first CEO, Pradeep brings a wealth of experience in the field of social enterprise. The SSX was designed as a trading platform for publicly listed social impact businesses looking to raise capital on the primary market and to trade in the secondary market: it is for profit-with-purpose companies who are able to demonstrate that their core product or service addresses a social or environmental need.
Before SSX, Pradeep spent three years at the London Stock Exchange, where he introduced the Corporate Responsibility Exchange, focusing on extra-financial (ESG) indicators. Pradeep has experience of gaining regulatory approval from the FCA for new products and services and has worked with both the issuer community and institutional investors. Having previously worked as a consultant to the UK Government on social stock exchanges, Pradeep regularly speaks at conferences on – and advises on – the social impact investing and social business marketplace.

Britain’s busy self-employed workforce, especially women, are missing out on millions of pounds in pension benefits. Support is here, but it’s also time for the government to help.
There are more than 4.3 million workers in the UK who are self-employed, equivalent to the combined populations of Manchester and Glasgow. This growing number of entrepreneurs provide everything from houses to haircuts, food deliveries to film-making, and contribute around £270bn a year to the UK economy.
Ten years ago I worked on the ground-breaking ‘Winners & Spinners’ project, where our team exposed how some UK funds badged themselves as ‘green’ or ‘sustainable’ but still poured money into oil, gas and coal companies. It’s taken a decade, but in July this year the UK’s main financial market regulator – the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) – finally launched rules to stop investment firms from exaggerating the green credentials of their products in this way to retail customers.
About 30 years ago, my then-employer asked me to travel to London to interview a fund manager called Clare Brook. Interviewing over, I decided my prospects in the City might be better than in the not-so-boom town of Preston in Lancashire.
My meeting with Clare was at the reasonably impressive No 1 Poultry, and I was also hugely impressed with her energy and drive for sustainable investing. Although, it was more likely to be called “ethical investing” at that time.
